Bikeability Level 3 is an advanced cycling training program designed for experienced cyclists aged 11 and over, who want to improve their on-road cycling skills. Participants will develop their knowledge of more complex road features, such as busy junctions and roundabouts, as well as learn how to navigate multi-lane roads and cycle on busier routes. This program will equip cyclists with the skills and confidence they need to cycle safely and confidently in a variety of on-road situations. By completing Bikeability Level 3, participants will become more competent and aware cyclists, able to make safer and more informed decisions when cycling on the road.

Bikeability Level 3 is an advanced level of cycling proficiency that equips cyclists with the skills and knowledge they need to handle complex junctions and heavy traffic. Here are some of the basics of Bikeability Level 3:

  • Route planning: Riders should be able to choose the safest and most practical routes for their cycling journey.
  • Road positioning: Cyclists should know how to position themselves properly on the road and be aware of their surroundings to avoid hazards.
  • Hazard perception: Cyclists should be able to identify potential hazards on the road, such as parked cars or pedestrians stepping into the bike lane.
  • Communication: Cyclists should understand how to use hand signals and other communication methods with other road users, such as cars or pedestrians.
  • Vehicle interactions: Cyclists should know how to safely interact with cars, vans, lorries, and other vehicles on the road.
