Bikeability Level 1 is the ideal course for beginner cyclists aged 5-9 years old who want to develop their cycling skills, increase their confidence, and learn the basic techniques to ride safely on the road. In this course, participants will learn how to check and adjust their bikes, start/stop correctly, balance, steer, and control their bikes. They will also learn the importance of road safety and how to properly signal and navigate junctions. By the end of the course, children will have gained a valuable life skill and be well on their way to becoming safe, competent and confident cyclists.

Bikeability Level 1 is designed to teach basic cycling skills, usually to children who are just learning to ride. In Bikeability Level 1, the focus is on mastering the following fundamentals:

1. Carrying out a simple bike check to ensure that the bike is safe to ride.

2. Getting on and off the bike safely.

3. Starting off, pedaling, and stopping the bike smoothly.

4. Riding confidently and safely in a straight line.

5. Looking behind and signaling to show other road users what you are doing.

6. Understanding and responding to basic traffic signs and road markings.

Overall, the aim of Bikeability Level 1 is to help new cyclists to develop the skills and confidence needed to ride safely on quiet roads and paths.
